Celebrating Year One
Our final in-person event of 2025!
Hello, friends of Bier Omakase!
First of all—thank you. A year and a half ago, we kicked this wild idea out into the world, and we’re now wrapping our first year of running actual in-person events that have somehow managed to sell out every time.
In the past year, we’ve delved into Korean drinking and snack culture, followed the impact of what the year 1988 meant to the modern-day beer landscape, and took a quiet moment to enjoy the time-honored tradition of hanging out in the style of Belgium’s great “brown café” culture. As summer dwindled, we managed to raise more than $2000 for the Michael James Jackson Foundation with our buddy John (aka Crust Fund Pizza) by having a bunch of pizza and beer in the garage.
Then, naturally, we got busy. “Real jobs” and so forth. Oktoberfests, PNW hop harvest, industry conferences… suffice to say, we’ve been a little quiet around here and didn’t even get a chance to mention that the North American Guild of Beer Writers named Bier Omakase “Emerging Voice of the Year” for 2025. We are in excellent company and honored to be listed among these incredibly talented writers.
To celebrate an unexpectedly fun and interesting first year, we’re recapping our favorite stories from all in-person events to date in Year One.
Please join us on Thursday, December 11 for Bier Omakase: Year One. If you can’t make it to the event, stop by Max’s Place on Clark Street around 830-9pm that night and raise a couple two-tree Old Styles with us to celebrate a great first year. We hope you can make it.

P.S. We’re working on something old school, low tech, DIY… if you catch my drift. If you’re interested, send us your mailing address and we’ll send ya something nice.
We promise not to share your address or show up at your house uninvited.
